Friday, October 25, 2013

This is gonna be a really quick one because I am running out of time already! But this week is the NuSkin Convention which means there has been a TON of Chinese people at Temple Square. We had about 4 or 5 Chinese sisters go back to their missions in Idaho, New York and Missouri since summer is over now, but that means there aren’t that many available Chinese sisters anymore. I actually passed off in Chinese tours on the very last day of my second transfer, which means I can officially take Chinese tours now. I took my very first Mandarin motorcoach (about 25 people) without a Chinese companion (Sister May only speaks English!) on Wednesday and it was the scariest thing ever! But luckily, my cousin was able to tag along and help out with the tour but that was the very first time I lead a Chinese motorcoach. Sister May and I have 2 Chinese tours on Sunday, but all the Chinese sisters are pretty booked on Sunday so I will only have Sister May to help me. But Sister May has so much faith in my Chinese and always forces me talk to the visitors in Chinese. I think I have talked to more Chinese people on my own this past week than my entire mission so far so I’m so grateful to have her support and encouragement. But I still need to practice my Chinese! Especially since I have to take 2 tours on my own on Sunday. Keep me in your prayers, guys!

We also had a really interesting experience happen to us this past week…..there was a lady who decided to blow some really loud religious horn in front of the temple. Sister May and I were assigned to stand at that specific spot at that specific time. I had no idea what to do so I stood there just staring while Sister May was cracking up. We were trying to alert the sisters around us to call security before she started to blow that horn ’cause she was saying some really weird stuff to us before, but it was a little too late. But seriously, less than a minute later, we had like 5 security guards come from nowhere to help us out. All I gotta say is, I love our security guards!

Have an awesome week everyone. Sorry if this last letter isn’t too spiritual but honestly, Sister May and I are so busy doing Supplies Coordinator stuff that we hardly have time to take tours on the Square or call people and teach them anymore. But, never forget that Heavenly Father loves you and that He has a plan for each and every one of us. Just trust in Him, do your part, and He will take care of the rest.

Love, Sister Olivia Ying
