First things first, I have a new companion! Her name is Sister Wade and she is 19 years old from Mesa, Arizona, just like one of my old companions, Sister May. We hit it off right away and it’s funny because we still don’t know each other very well in the sense that we don’t know each other’s life stories or really any details about each other. We literally have only been talking about the work that needs to be done here and through that, we’ve been able to develop a strong, unified companionship and have gotten to know each other in that way. She has helped me see a whole new perspective on the missionary work here and I’m so grateful that I have a companion who will push me to do my best in my last few weeks here before I go back to Temple Square. She definitely was an answer to my prayers! We have talked to so many people this last week and we already have 7 lessons set up for this coming week. I can’t wait!
Anyways, the weather is FINALLY warming up! Saturday was the perfect day – I seriously felt like I was back in California. But today there are apparently gonna be some thunderstorms and tomorrow is supposed to rain all day. I’m still not used to all the rain that they get out here. I’m used to nice sunny California weather but I’m just glad spring seems like it’s finally here.
We currently are teaching a sophomore from China who has been living in the United States for the last 5 years of his life. He used to go to a Christian high school and when he came out here for college, he didn’t have a church to go to anymore. He told us that he wants to have a stronger and more stable faith in Jesus Christ and wants to have that “good feeling” again. We told him that the “good feeling” he had was the Holy Ghost and he agreed. He is leaving for China for the summer though and will be back in August, but we are worried that he won’t be able to have receive much spiritual help if he goes back to China since our Church isn’t recognized as an official religion there. We talked about the gift of the Holy Ghost that he would always have once he is baptized and that he would never feel “empty” like he did when he came out here for school. He really thought about that and decided that he might want to get baptized right before he leaves for China! Before, we had asked him to be baptized June 7th but he said that was too soon and he wasn’t gonna be in the States by then. Now, he promised us that he would pray to know if he should be baptized on May 10th! This experience made me realize even more that there truly are many prepared people who need this gospel and I firmly believe that God will put these people in our path as we try our best to seek them out.
This past week has been amazing and I love being a missionary! There truly are so many people waiting to hear our message and we are blessed to be official representatives of Jesus Christ, our Savior. I hope you all had a wonderful week! I love and miss you all!
