It’s crazy to think that I only have a month left. Yesterday, I gave my farewell talk in sacrament meeting and had a “Finish Strong” meeting with the mission president and the rest of the sisters in my class. It just became so much more real to me that my mission is coming to an end!
Since it’s my last transfer, Sister Reed and I are working hard to make sure we do all we can so that we can find everyone the Lord has prepared for us. When we became companions, we didn’t really have many people we were teaching. But after 2 weeks of being companions and working hard, we are starting to see the fruits of our labors. I’ll share one quick story with you all before I take off.
During last month’s General Conference, I met a girl named R. It turns out that she had been meeting with local missionaries for the last month and a half and had married into a LDS family. We took down her contact information and for the last month, we weren’t able to get a hold of her. Finally, we called her up again and she answered! We talked to her and ended up committing her to pray about getting baptized on November 22. She agreed to do so and said that her local missionaries had never actually asked her to be baptized on a specific day yet. She said they thought they would be too pushy and asking her would scare her off. One thing I’ve learned on my mission is how to be bold and to discern by the Spirit. Well, she texted us a couple days later and said that she had prayed about November 22 and she felt the Spirit so strongly. She talked to her local missionaries and they have the date officially set for November 22 now!
We are so excited for her, not because she’s getting baptized, but because she and her husband will have the chance to be sealed in the temple for time and eternity! This is what the work is about, not baptisms. It’s getting Heavenly Father’s children to the temple so that we can receive the promised blessings from Him.
Well, I gotta run now but I will see you all soon! I love and miss you all.
